McCandless Crossing hosted Fleece Connection for a Blanket Workshop on January 17.
Approximately 60 people attended the Blanket Workshop and together made close to 40 blankets that will be distributed at the Butler VA. Food was provided by Chipotle and Burgatory and Lowe’s Home Improvement, Massage Envy Spa, Deer Creek Winery, Rue Boutique, Cinemark, Gigi’s Cupcakes, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, and Handel’s Ice Cream sponsored the workshop.
Founded by Madison Murchak, Fleece Connection is a local nonprofit that makes fleece blankets and distributes them to military members and veterans in need. Ms. Murchak first started making fleece blankets when she was a senior in high school. These blankets were distributed to homeless shelters in Appalachia, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh. Ms. Murchak’s idea grew into Fleece Connection after meeting the founders of another organization committed to supporting military members and their families, Luke’s Wings. Fleece Connection has distributed blankets at several military hospitals including the Veteran’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C.
McCandless Crossing is proud to partner with Fleece Connection to bring encouragement to our brave men and women in uniform. For more information on Fleece Connection please visit www.fleececonnection.org.
